Frequently Asked Questions

Common Questions & Answers:

Family & Portrait:

How do I secure a portrait session with you?

It's super easy! All you have to do is contact me with the date you're interested in and I'll get you all set up. I do require a 25% deposit to secure the date.

How would you describe your style?

I like to take a natural approach to my portraits. While I do pose my clients, I do so in a way that doesn't feel forced or non-genuine. My job is to capture your personality. Just be yourself and I’ll take care of the rest. As for my editing techniques, I love bright and well-lit photographs full of color.

How many people are allowed in a portrait session?

That depends on the portrait package you choose. Please see the pricing guide for details. I offer family portrait sessions, which allow both parents, all children and up to two pets. Because those require more coordination and work, they're a little more expensive than, say, a business portrait with one person.

What happens if it rains, or someone gets sick?

Stuff happens, but that's OK. If you prefer an outdoor session, you can always reschedule for another day. If rescheduling isn't feasible, I always have backup indoor locations to shoot in. As for people getting sick, etc., we can reschedule.

Will you travel outside of Philadelphia-metro?

Depending on my scheduling and the location, I have no problem traveling. If it's a drivable distance, I charge a per-mile fee. My main service area is currently Delaware County, PA (Delco for the natives). My studio is currently located in Broomall, PA near Newtown Square, PA.

What happens if my child freaks out?

This is a completely normal fear, and we get it. Kids are unpredictable and sometimes a temper tantrum is inevitable. When this happens, we will simply take a little break, allow you to calm your child down by talking/feeding/playing and then take the appropriate steps to easing back into the session. We will never force photos or send you on your way. That's a promise!

Can I share the photos on social media?

Of course. We love it when people share our photographs. We just ask that you don't crop out our logo and that you link to our webpage or blog when possible. Be sure to tag us, please!

Do you do mini sessions?

Golden Hour Photography hosts several mini sessions throughout the year, and we'd love to have you sign up for one! We typically do holiday mini sessions, which make for great holiday greeting cards. Stay up to date by subscribing to our email list, checking out our blog on the regular or by "following" us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Do You Give Discounts for Referrals?

We do! If you send a client our way and they book a session, we'll provide you with either a $50 printing credit or 20% off your next session package, including mini sessions.

After Your session:

How long does it take to get my pictures?

You'll typically have access to all your images via an online gallery within a month of your session. From there, it takes approximately two to four weeks (depending on when and what you order) for you to receive your images. Please refer to our Photo Processing Timeline in this information packet for more details.

What if I don't want my session blogged or posted on social media?

I completely respect your right to privacy. If you would prefer to not have your images posted on social media or on The Darkroom Dweeb blog, I will refrain from doing so. Do note that your images will be uploaded to an online gallery, but this is password protected and nobody else can access your images except for you.

Can I share my online gallery with other people?

Absolutely! Sometimes it's nice to have others look through your images to help you decide which pictures to print. They'll just need your username and password to access the gallery.

Can I order my prints and products at your studio?

Sure thing! I am happy to provide custom ordering sessions at the studio. This is a complimentary service that's typically scheduled a month after your photo shoot. Alternatively, you can order all your prints and products online in your own home.

When do I pay for my prints and products?

You pay for your prints and products at the time of order. Your payment covers all the materials, as well as shipping and handling. I accept cash and all major credit cards with chip or tap options.

What happens if I don't like a print or product?

We stand by the quality of our prints and products and want to make sure that you are absolutely thrilled with them. If there is an issue with your order, we will work diligently to replace the affected items in a timely manner.

I still have another question. How can I contact you?

Feel free to call, email or even text whenever you need to at (484) 424-6315 or Darkroomdweeb@gmail.com I'll respond within 24 hours.

Pet Sessions:

What should I bring to my session?

Please bring your pet with an empty bladder and booty, your pets favorite toys, some yummy treats, a leash for your dog, and a carrier for your cat. If your pet has known a known anxiety disorder please give the proper dosage of anxiety medication at the appropriate time before our session.

Do you photograph reptiles and birds?

No. I am currently only scheduling sessions for feline and canine pets.

What if my pet is having a bad day?

No worries! We all have bad days from time to time. Forcing your pet to have their portrait taken will just cause additional stress. We can reschedule for another time when your pet baby feels like their normal spunky self.

Misc:

Do you photograph weddings and events?

No, I am not currently accepting wedding and event photography jobs. If you'd like a studio portrait in your special occasion attire before or after your event, I'd be more than happy to schedule a session with you!
